Love Spoon - Wax Inlay

$200.00

Beginning 300+ years ago, these spoons would be presented to a woman as a gift, serving two purposes - proposal for marriage and showcasing one’s dedication. Mostly carved by sailors, the designs carved into the spoons had several meanings - Luck, wealth, good fortune and security. Ornately decorated and crafted with the intent of eternal love.

The design motifs shown are a heart, bird, stars and wheel. All the wax used to seal each and every chip has been made the same way for hundreds of years, then, finished with tung oil and a milk painted heart border.
